MAD Unveils Plans for Its Stunning China Philharmonic Hall

Beijing will soon be home to yet another, shall we say, very unique building. MAD studio recently released a series of photographs depicting plans for its China Philharmonic Hall, Dezeen reports.
The concert hall will be the first permanent site for the China Philharmonic Orchestra and will be built next to Workers' Stadium.
As the photos show, the facade of the concert hall will be veiled in a wavy translucent material. The building’s facade has been specially designed so visitors can view the lotus pond and planted greenery that will surround the structure.
The two-story building will measure 26,587-square-metres and will house a 1,600-seat concert hall, 400-seat rehearsal hall, recording studio, library, gallery, offices and rehearsal spaces.
“We wanted to create a pure and sacred oasis in the midst of the bustling city," said MAD founder, Ma Yansong. "From the moment you enter the building, you will be taken to another time and space."
"Audiences will experience a transition from an urban setting to one of music and nature, preparing them for a journey of self-discovery," he said. "The translucent facade gently emerges from the landscape like a piece of jade. While walking past the building, people will be attracted to its soft glow."
The interior of the structure is equally as impressive, boasting massive spiral staircases, wooden seating areas and lotus petal-shaped acoustic panels, which will adorn the ceiling of the concert hall.
Workers will break ground on the building this year. The China Philharmonic Hall is expected to open its doors in 2019.
